Build a Paint Stand
Here's how you and your Trailman can build a paint stand for almost nothing.
Supplies
Wire clothes hanger
Scrap wood (2x4)
3/4" inch wood screws x4
Washers for wood screws x4
Sharpie
Saw
Drill and bit to drill pilot holes
Screwdriver
Wire cutters
Pliers to bend coat hanger
Tape measure
Speed square
Steps
1. Cut the wood to 4 1/2" long
2. Cut the hook off the clothes hanger, straighten the remaining wire, and cut it in about half - at least 18" in each piece
3. Using the Sharpie, mark each wire at the following places:
1 1/2"
2 1/2"
4 1/2"
8 1/2"
8 3/4"
12 3/4"
14 3/4"
15 3/4"
17 1/2"
4. Bend the wire at each mark, clipping off the excess to leave about 1" of space between the ends.
5. Mark the center line of the wood (from left to right) on each end of wood block and make two marks about 1/4 inch from top and bottom.
6. Using a drill, drill pilot holes for the screws at the cross marks.
7. Fasten the screws making sure the washer is on the outside of the 'goal posts'. This holds the 'goal posts' in place. Do this for both ends.
8. Insert the ends of the wires into the axle slots on your car. This will hold the car while you paint and prevent paint from obstructing your axles.
